Happy Birthday, Melissa!

I've always been grateful for your and Steve's friendship.

Not too many people are posting photos around here, I see, but I managed to dredge up a few.

This is probably my favorite picture from graduation:

I don't know who took this next picture--just some tourist at the Lincoln Memorial. Something leads me to believe they may not have been a professional photographer. Or maybe they were, but they'd just gotten off an all-night flight and felt a little disoriented. The off-kilter horizon kind of adds to the charm, though.

Gosh, I feel seasick now.

This one's a bit more recent:

Thanks for being a great friend! Lisa and I were truly thrilled that you and Steve worked around your busy schedules to come up for our wedding.

I always thought it was interesting that Lisa and I would run into you and Steve at the most arbitrary, or dare I say, random places: the Cougareat in the late hours of the evening on a Friday night, or the Gallivan Center on New Year's Eve. I guess the chances of such occurrences have diminished now that we have moved to different areas of the country, but perhaps some time our families can visit one another—we could visit the barren desert of Arizona, or you could come to the cool, lush, inviting forests of Washington! Just kidding. I think Arizona is cool! Errr, hot. Whatever.

Thanks for always being kind, thoughtful, and cheerful. I miss your neologisms and unexpected phonetic constructions to fill the various lexical gaps in the English language. Thanks for always remembering my birthday—it always impressed me. I really hope you have a delightful 30th. It doesn't seem like we could all be that old.... Maybe we're not.

Happy Birthday!

Nick
